Do you have a medical condition or take medication, and need a Norwegian offshore health certificate? Here is what the County Governor of Rogaland says about the conditions they are asked about most often.
The County Governor of Rogaland (Statsforvalteren) administers the offshore health requirements for all of Norway. If you are unsure whether you meet them, the County Governor says you should contact a petroleum doctor, who will examine you and decide whether the requirements are met.
For some conditions the petroleum doctor can issue the certificate directly. For others the doctor must apply to the County Governor for a dispensation. The overview below is the County Governor's own, translated into English.

| Condition | What the County Governor says |
|---|---|
| ADHD and Asperger | The petroleum doctor must apply for a dispensation. |
| Type 1 diabetes | You can get a dispensation for occasional trips. For stays of more than 1 week or a normal offshore rotation the requirements are very strict, and the doctor must involve the platform health service in the application. |
| Type 2 diabetes | As a rule, the petroleum doctor does not need to apply for a dispensation. |
| Heart disease | After a heart attack, 6 weeks must pass after stenting. For heart failure or atrial fibrillation the doctor makes an individual assessment. |
| Epilepsy | The requirement is not met with a change of medication or a seizure within the last 2 years. A dispensation is difficult to obtain before 12 months have passed since the seizure. |
| Mental illness | For mild anxiety and depression the doctor does not need to apply for a dispensation. For severe anxiety, depression or a previous psychosis the doctor must apply. |
| Alcohol | Alcohol misuse requires checks and cooperation between the petroleum doctor and the company doctor. |
| Drugs | Drug misuse requires 6 months of clean tests, further checks and cooperation between the petroleum doctor and the company doctor. |
| Blood thinners | For example Marevan and Xarelto: 2 months of stable treatment is required. |

For hearing loss, a hearing aid must be used and speech perception must be normal.

Read about appeals in the guide if you are found unfit.
